I found it deplorably funny as to what the media and the opposition parties are coming up with post these elections trying to negate the seemingly glaring verdict laid down by the people. The whole campaign of the opposition during these elections lacked ideas, visions and I cannot emphasize enough, logic. But the media, the various news channels are engaging in very meaningless discussion and do you know about what? The age and credibility of Rahul Gandhi! The fact that UPA must have done something right to come back to power in such a thumping manner seems to be quite oblivious to these news channels, making me doubt their credibility and their impartiality. What I feel that the media and the people should concentrate more on is what the government did right which obviously worked rather than what the opposition got wrong coz what they did wrong will clearly not lead to any progress for me and you.
But still I find it irritating as to how the hot topic of discussion is whether Rahul Gandhi will accept a ministerial berth and the opposition still driving on with their lack of arguments attacking Rahul Gandhi’s dynastical rise in national politics. “There are many young leaders who are working and toiling day and night and they are not getting the recognition as Rahul Gandhi is because he has an advantage, an unfair advantage”, this was said by a member of the opposition on an eminent news channel. It is completely agreeable, but this advantage, this unfair advantage he was talking about came from the sacrifices of his father and grandmother who were assassinated while serving the people of this country. So I very much doubt whether Rahul Gandhi or any of us should consider this as an advantage or a greater responsibility. The fact that Rahul Gandhi attended 110 rallies in 35 days which is a way to connect with the people seems to be a hard work falling on deaf ears. The ludicrous comment he gets though from a very narrow minded and seemingly bigoted leader of UP is that when he washes his hands after a hard day’s work, he is trying to cleanse himself because he shook hands with Dalits. Do I need to even draw attention as how to illogically frivolous that statement is? The hype that leaders of opposition say is being created about Rahul Gandhi is first of all not his creation but the creation of the media which I don’t know why seems to be very unfriendly towards this Congress leader.
As opposed to the whole aim of the opposition which needless to say was to steam roll the people into making their prime ministerial candidate Prime Minister albeit without any issues and apparently with a deficiency syndrome on schemes and proposals, just because it was his last chance. I tell you, this is what people should be opposing rather than attacking Rahul Gandhi’s lineage.
These elections are a new beginning, encouraging us to live in a country and in a democracy where our politicians can praise at the top of our voice other politicians when they do a good job irrespective to what party they belong to or what political equations one might disturb in doing so.
That is what the media should be projecting, an air of honesty without it being called political naivety rather than blatant and prominent bias towards and against certain leaders.
